Abstract

La Rame à l'épaule est une expression que le devin Tirésias utilise pour signifier à Ulysse que ce dernier devra repartir, une fois de plus, après l'épisode du massacre des prétendants. Tout comme l'exil crée la nécessité du retour, le retour appelle inéluctablement un nouvel exil, de telle sorte que le pas de deux de l'éternel retour caractéristique la vision authentiquement grecque du monde. Par cet emprunt à la mythologie, Baptiste Rappin qualifie l'Odyssée philosophique du penseur Jean-François Mattéi (1941-2014) qui, grand spécialiste de Platon dont il renouvela profondément l'interprétation, fut l'héritier d'un hellénisme qu'il porta, par sa maîtrise et son génie, à sa pleine incandescence. L'ouvrage pointe vers le centre de la pensée de Mattéi pour surprendre le surgissement de la mythologie au sein même de la philosophie, et détecter la secrète présente du symbole au coeur de la raison. S'ouvre alors un renouvellement de la compréhension de l'histoire de la philosophie dont la trame s'entrelace infatigablement, par le jeu du retour et de la répétition, dans la chaîne de l'Être pour tisser les motifs du monde.
