Abstract

La Bretagne Sud n'est pas un territoire politico-administratif : il ne fait l'objet d'aucun système de gouvernance institutionnel, ne dispose pas de compétences propres, et aucun cadre légal n'en définit les frontières. Pourtant, la Bretagne Sud est mobilisée par les acteurs locaux dans leur quotidien. Près de 200 entreprises, associations et organisations utilisent par exemple le vocable « Bretagne Sud » dans leur dénomination. Ce territoire semble ainsi réunir les caractéristiques d'un territoire vécu et renvoie à des représentations communes. Comment ces représentations et les dynamiques économiques et sociales sur un territoire informel nourrissent-elles aujourd'hui un positionnement politique d'affirmation et de renégociation de la place de villes moyennes et territoires intermédiaires entre Quimper, Lorient et Vannes ? Le présent article examine le processus contemporain de construction de la Bretagne Sud en un territoire politique de projet reflétant une posture stratégique des acteurs politiques locaux en réponse aux logiques de métropolisation à l'œuvre.
