La pertinence de l’anthropologie économique face à une économie intégrant les concepts de l’anthropologie : l’exemple des normes sociales

Abstract

Tandis que l'anthropologie économique connaissait à la fin du 20ème siècle une éclipse relative, l'économie étendait ses objets d'étude à des phénomènes auparavant situés hors de son champ, tels que les institutions et les normes sociales régissant les comportements, les institutions politiques ou les représentations cognitives. L'économie estime désormais qu'elle analyse les objets des autres sciences sociales avec davantage de rigueur scientifique en raison de sa méthodologie fondée sur les mathématiques. Sur l'exemple des institutions régissant les appartenances sociales, et dans le contexte de l'Afrique sub-saharienne, l'article montre que les institutions ne sont pas des variables mesurables et que pour en analyser les effets économiques, l'approche anthropologique demeure épistémologiquement supérieure.
