Abstract

Mixel Agitators is a French SME that designs, makes and sells industrial mixers. The company has an ambitious international strategy and owns a production and sales subsidiary in Beijing in China. The relationship between head office and the subsidiary is relatively good, however, there are some intercultural problems that are hindering business development in China. Prepared in close collaboration with Mixel Agitators, this case deals with intercultural problems that SMEs can face in China. Students are asked to analyse these difficulties and to propose solutions for managing intercultural situations between the teams of the French head office and the Chinese subsidiary.
