Abstract

La Lorraine est le plus souvent décrite comme un territoire en crise face à un passé industriel déclinant et un avenir qui semble s'inscrire sur un axe Ouest-Est sur le territoire national. L'analyse économique traditionnelle en se bornant au cadre national ne perçoit pas les dynamiques nouvelles à l'oeuvre. L'analyse de la décomposition du PIB par habitant à l'échelle de la Grande Région, territoire englobant les régions frontalières de quatre États-membres européens (Lorraine, Wallonie, Sarre, Rhénanie-Palatinat et Luxembourg), permet d'appréhender les questions relatives au développement économique territorial d'une manière nouvelle et de concevoir une approche par-delà les frontières. Ainsi, après plusieurs décennies marquées par une mono-industrie, la Lorraine s'oriente vers une tertiairisation de son tissu économique avec un phénomène de résidentialisation lié à l'essor du travail transfrontalier. La dynamique économique qui s'inscrit sur un axe Nord-Sud amène avec elle des enjeux nouveaux pour les territoires en matière de politique économique et d'aménagement du territoire.
