Abstract

This article deals with Logistic Service Providers (LSPs) strategic behaviour in an innovation framework. This innovation evolves in competitive markets and overlays a strategic challenge for these actors to maintain a competitive position and face new challenges. This article aims at studying strategic reasons for which Logistic Service Providers develop innovations of different types and nature. A qualitative analysis of nine innovative French LSPs enables the identification of process, service and technological innovations, developed in an incremental and radical way. The results help to identify strategic behaviours (i.e. reactive, proactive) according to such innovations and understand their motivations.
