Abstract

The purpose of this article is to gain a perspective on the land reforms in the Central and Eastern European countries to show the extent to which the structure of agricultural production and the land market imperfections, left by the socialist period, have influenced the restructuring dynamics. Various reasons are brought forward, particulary the necessity for a deep land reform, which can be considered as one of the main elements for the restructuring of the production system. A synthesis of these reforms is proposed, along with perspectives considering a new vision of the Common Agricultural Policy.
