Abstract

This paper aims to compare immediate post-experience memory collected upon store exiting to shopping experience itself. We highlight that some elements of the shopping experience tend to be invariably recovered by memory while others are generally forgotten or subjected to distortions. Contrary to individual variables such as gender or knowledge of the store, type of shopping path explains the level of memorization. Moreover results of the current study indicate an advantage of analyzing in-store shopping paths rather than utilizing a declarative method when conducting consumer behavior research.
