Abstract

Depuis une vingtaine d'années, les crises financières paraissent liées au processus de globalisation financière qui a complètement modifié l'ordre financier international. La crise qui débuta en 2007 n'échappe pas à cette règle. Ce qui est frappant avec cette crise, c'est son ampleur, sa durée et ses effets, qui font que deux spécialistes des crises financières l'ont appelée la « seconde grande contraction » (the second great contraction), la crise de 1929 étant la première. En effet, cette crise est, dans la série des crises bancaires et financières depuis la Seconde Guerre mondiale, la première ayant une envergure mondiale. Les facteurs propices à son déclenchement sont analysés dans une première partie. Son déroulement fait l'objet de la deuxième partie. la troisième partie analyse les mesures prises par les banques centrales et les États pour tenter de l'endiguer à court terme et d'éviter l'effondrement de l'économie mondiale
