Abstract

L'égalité des femmes et des hommes, loin d'être acquise, n'en finit pas de faire débat. Cet état de fait nous invite à distinguer l'égalité des droits et l'égalité effective. Rendre visible l'écart entre le principe d'égalité de droit et la réalité est un enjeu permanent pour celles et ceux qui interrogent la construction sociale des inégalités. Dans le domaine du pouvoir, entendu comme la participation à la prise de décision, il est maintenant consensuel de dénoncer la sous - représentation des femmes. Ce consensus masque pourtant une polémique : l'exclusion des femmes du pouvoir n'exprimerait-elle pas le fondement des inégalités entre les sexes, à savoir une autorité virile perçue comme « naturelle » et une division sexuée des tâches entre les sphères publique et privée ? Ce numéro d'Informations sociales vise à questionner l'inégalité dans l'accès au pouvoir comme dans son exercice. Pour cela, il en met en perspective les différents domaines d'application : les pouvoirs politique, économique et social rythment les trois parties de ce numéro. La réflexion est inscrite dans le cadre européen et fournit ainsi aux lecteurs un certain nombre d'analyses comparatives ou portant plus spécifiquement sur des pays tels que l'Allemagne, l'Espagne, les pays d'Europe de l'Est, la Finlande ou encore la Suède. Tous les articles dépassent le strict cas français, car il s'agit bien d'enrichir nos propres réflexions pour relativiser ce qui ne saurait constituer une « exception » française.
