Ephemeral Virtual Organization, which place for supply chain management? The case of Music Festivals

Abstract

The musics festivals works in an uncertainty environment. The sudden decline in sales or the risks of terrorist attacks, are only two examples of risks for this kind of organizations. If this events have a first role in the diffusion of culture, they also play a central role in local and national economies. In fact, the bigger festivals can generate several milions euro of economic benefits. To insure the survival of this events, and to preserve the positives externalities, the managers of the festivals have adapt the organization structure for the specific situation. This research give a reflexion about the place of the supply chain management in the ephemerals organizations, with the logistics tools as the basis for an Ephemeral Virtual Organization (EVO).
