Abstract

La mondialisation de l'économie s'accompagne de déplacements de la production dans toutes les grandes zones économiques. De nombreux travaux s'intéressent aux stratégies de localisation des FMN (Firmes multinationales) (Mucchielli 1998, Dunning, 1998 Andreff 2003, Rugman 2005, Colovic et Mayrhofer et Urban, 2011...) et de l'internationalisation des PME (Torrès, 1999 ; Lu et Beamish, 2001 ; Ruzzier et al., 2006...). Avec le développement de la Nouvelle Economie Géographique, l'analyse s'est orientée vers l'étude de la dimension géographique des stratégies de localisation (Dunning, 1977, 1998 ; Krugman, 1991, 1995, Bouba-Olga, 2006). Un des résultats de cette approche est de montrer que les activités productives et commerciales ont tendance à s'agglomérer dans certaines régions. Dès lors, on peut expliquer pourquoi certaines régions s'avèrent plus attractives que d'autres (pour certains secteurs d'activités donnés) et comment, sous l'impulsion des institutions, se forment ces agglomérations (districts, clusters, pôles de compétitivité) (Porter, 1998, 2000). Plusieurs études mettent également en évidence l'importance de facteurs économiques (Cantwell et Narula, 2003) tels que la taille du marché (Sethi et al., 2003), les aides à l'investissement (Loree et Guisinger, 1995), ou encore les exonérations fiscales (OFCE, 2005) pour expliquer ces choix de localisation.
