Abstract

Je vous remercie de votre invitation. C'est un grand honneur pour moi de venir m'exprimer en ce lieu. Le sujet que nous allons évoquer me tient particulièrement à coeur. Je m'intéresse en effet à la force de la monnaie depuis le jour où mon fils, alors âgé de dix ans, m'a demandé de lui expliquer pourquoi la livre sterling était la monnaie la plus forte du monde. La distinction entre ce qui est nominal et ce qui est réel. Il serait ainsi possible aujourd'hui de multiplier la valeur de l'euro par dix par rapport à sa valeur réelle : il s'agirait d'une simple manipulation comptable qui diviserait l'ensemble des prix afin d'acquérir la même quantité de biens avec une moindre quantité de monnaie (...).
