Abstract

Jean-Marcel Jeanneney était un économiste rare, à la fois théoricien, empiriste et praticien. Il maîtrisait assez les nuances et les contradictions de la doctrine pour savoir se tenir à distance de toutes les idéologies. Il connaissait de près, pour les avoir étudiées avec minutie, les structures des économies réelles et la profondeur de leur histoire. Il a fait la politique économique de la France en des moments décisifs où tout était à inventer, où tout pouvait basculer : modernisation de l'industrie, stratégie énergétique, consolidation de l'État-providence, maîtrise de la monnaie, construction du marché européen (...).
