Faut-il réformer les pensions de réversion ?

Les pensions de réversion constituent un élément important du système français de retraite. En 2006, elles représentent 30 milliards d'euros, soit 1,7 % du PIB. Pour les uns, elles sont indispensables puisqu'elles permettent aux veuves de conserver un niveau de vie satisfaisant ; elles compensent, en partie, les différences de salaires entre les hommes et les femmes. Pour les autres, c'est une survivance du modèle patriarcal périmé, un avantage injuste accordé aux femmes mariées ; ce dispositif, qui ne bénéfice ni aux pacsés, ni aux concubins, est de moins en moins compatible avec les comportements actuels : l'union libre, le divorce et les remises en couple. Certains estiment que la suppression des pensions de réversion permettrait de réduire de façon importante les dépenses et donc les déséquilibres financiers des régimes de retraite, mais ils oublient que ces économies dégraderaient fortement la situation des femmes âgées et en plongeraient beaucoup dans la pauvreté (...).
