Abstract

In this paper, we put forward the idea that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a reconfiguration of a wider movement conceptualized in Sustainable Development (SD) and applied inside firms. Resorting to SD strategies allows them to legitimate their activities by promoting their image given the types of goods they produce. Seizing a new ethic of production, firms deal in fact with putting away issues at stake in SD by using multiple principles of legitimacy. It ensues that the responsibilities of different stakeholders are blurred. Therefore, transversal practices that characterize SD are uneasy to implement inside the firms.
