Abstract

A la fonction traditionnelle de protection des innovations s'ajoute aujourd'hui une dimension stratégique : les entreprises brevètent aussi pour barrer (" bloquer ") la route de l'innovation à leurs concurrents. Nous cherchons à cerner l'utilisation de ce brevet " bloquant ", qui diffère du brevet " dormant ", par les entreprises françaises. Cette recherche exploratoire, de nature qualitative, s'appuie sur la perception de 18 conseils en propriété intellectuelle. Nos résultats indiquent que les entreprises françaises, compte-tenu de leurs caractéristiques et de celles du système de protection industrielle, affichent un certain retard en matière d'utilisation stratégique du brevet.
