Abstract

Jusqu'au années 1980, les marchés financiers n'ont joué qu'un rôle secondaire dans le financement de l'économie européenne. Au cours de cette décennie, les mesures de déréglementation financière ont considérablement renforcé leur poids. Dans ce même temps, leur structure et leur organisation ont été modelées. C'est ce qu'analysent ici les auteurs en montrant en particulier comment le durcissement de la concurrence mais aussi la propagation des nouvelles technologies de l'information et de la communication, ont favorisé les innovations et ont poussé les places financières nationales à se regrouper afin de préserver leur compétitivité.
