Design et luxe dans l'hospitality. Le luxe accessible : un paradoxe ?

Abstract

Dans les années 1970, Holiday Inn clamait haut et fort que "la meilleure surprise est l'absence de surprise". Il y a quelques décennies, une chaîne hôtelière pouvait donc avancer l'argument d'offrir, sur une vaste zone géographique, des prestations normalisées garantissant le confort et la satisfaction de ses clients. Cet exemple illustre combien la définition du luxe est relative et contextuelle. De nos jours, dans la mesure où les prestations hôtelières se normalisent (par exemple, l'accès au wifi , aux chaînes câblées, le buffet au petit-déjeuner, etc.), on peut légitimement se poser la question : qu'est-ce que le luxe et que représente-t-il dans l'hôtellerie ? En quoi consisterait alors un luxe dit accessible ?
