Abstract

Après que l'on a annoncé la fin du travail dans la seconde moitié des années 1990, voici que, dix ans plus tard, ce dernier s'impose, dans les discours comme dans les enquêtes, comme une valeur de premier rang. Pour comprendre la portée de ce retour du travail, le présent article propose une lecture d'inspiration durkheimienne. Il brosse le tableau du travail comme pilier de la civilisation industrielle d'après-guerre et porte intérêt aux transformations de la sociologie du travail depuis ces deux dernières décennies. Il pointe ce faisant les principales mutations de l'ordre productif contemporain.
