Abstract

La présente contribuition tente de dresser un premier bilan d'activité de l'Autorité de sécurité des aliments à l'occasion de son cinquième anniversaire. Ainsi qu'il est désormais bien connu, bien qu'elle joue un rôle central dans le fonctionnement du nouveau régime des sécurité alimentaire, l'Autorité n'a été investie par e nouveau régime de la sécurité alimentaire d'aucun pouvoir réglementaire, lequel demeure auprès de la Commission et des États membres. Cependant, étant donné que la législation alimentaire repose largement sur la science, la délégation à l'Autorité de l'évaluation scientifique des risques lui confère un pouvoir quasi-règlementaire. Ceci est d'autant plus vrai que l'Autorité s'est vu confier des pouvoirs scientifiques d'initiative lui permettant de conduire une évaluation scientifique sans aucune demande préalable de la part de la Commission ou d'un État membre
