Abstract

La réputation a été avancée comme un critère majeur dans le déroulement des carrières, sans qu'elle soit explicitement définie. Cet article propose une définition opérationnelle de la réputation, étiquette ou image sociale qui se construit dans les relations entre les acteurs. Les artistes fournissent un exemple privilégié pour décrypter ces mécanismes, et le cas des poètes contemporains offre ensuite une illustration marquante de la gestion de la réputation tant par les individus que par les organisations, dans le cas considéré les éditeurs. La réputation est, en effet, à la fois un outil de décision et un enjeu au coeur des stratégies des acteurs.
