Abstract

L'article conteste la possibilité de gérer conjointement les coûts et la valeur créée pour le client. Il explique dans un premier temps qu'il n'existe pas de consensus sur une définition de la valeur pour le client et il montre que, le client ne constituant pas une réalité homogène, la valeur pour le client sera au minimum variable et instable. Puis, il étudie deux outils (le target costing et la méthode ABC/ABM) censés construire une relation entre les coûts et la valeur et constate qu'ils ne le font que de façon très imparfaite. L'article conclut par une interrogation sur les raisons qui poussent les praticiens et les chercheurs à s'appuyer sur des concepts relativement fragiles et plaide pour une plus grande ouverture de la recherche en comptabilité de gestion aux autres disciplines de gestion.
