Abstract

Cette thèse s'intéresse au rôle de l'innovation dans les entreprises situées en amont de l'utilisateur final et habituellement engagées dans un modèle ‘b-to-b'. Nous Etudions comment ces entreprises peuvent réussir dans le développement et l'introduction d'innovations à l'origine de ruptures d'usage (Breakthrough Usages Innovations) qui créent de nouvelles expériences et valeurs d'usage pour les consommateurs. Dans cette recherche, nous explorons un domaine d'innovation particulier : l'assistance à la conduite, dont les innovations bouleversent le schéma habituel d'utilisation des produits et créent de nouveaux usages. Les entreprises doivent être capables, dans un contexte technologique foisonnant, d'explorer des marchés encore inexistants et de faire face à une forte incertitude quant à l'adoption des nouveaux produits par les utilisateurs finaux. Pour cela, nous utilisons « l'aftermarket » comme champ d'exploration d'un nouveau modèle économique et d'innovation qui permet aux entreprises amont d'être en relation directe avec l'utilisateur final pour innover. Cette recherche a été menée en coopération avec un équipementier automobile de premier rang. Dans le cadre d'une recherche-action, elle a consisté à explorer et développer un portefeuille de produits pour l'assistance à la conduite ainsi que sa commercialisation grâce à l'aftermarket.
