Abstract

Local rural areas by preserving biodiversity, social and cultural diversity as well as local skills can be considered to be one of the components of the sustainable development of a country. Small local businesses need to give added value to their output through their quality and the typical nature of the products. Short distribution channels are a means of selling such products. Internet selling is such a channel. This paper aims to identify the strategies of web use adopted by local small businesses. We will analyse the use from two points of view, information and marketing. We will base our research on a case study of the olive oil sector in France.
