Abstract

Dans son petit livre – Comment nous pensons –, Dewey (2004) se pose un problème pédagogique : « comment peut-on apprendre à penser aux enfants ? » et pour répondre à cette question, cherche à comprendre comment nous pensons. L'objet du présent papier est de se servir de la réflexion de Dewey pour éclairer une pratique de recherche, celle qui procède par études de cas. Adopter cette orientation pratique est après tout dans l'esprit du pragmatisme. Par ailleurs, l'une des originalités de Dewey consiste à ne pas faire de différence entre la pensée courante et la démarche scientifique. Ce n'est donc pas le trahir tout à fait que de procéder de cette manière.
