Abstract

La New Political Economy découvre sur le tard qu'il y a de la politique dans l'économie, ou plutôt par-dessus. Mais le « politique » n'y est qu'une couche supplémentaire surmontant la structure d'ensemble des marchés, elle-même réputée parfaitement autorégulée… et inopportunément perturbée par les parasitages de la vie politique. Ce livre, à l'inverse, affirme que le politique est immanent aux rapports sociaux du capitalisme. Il s'agit bien sûr d'un concept étendu du politique, compris ici comme (omni)présence des conflits et des rapports de pouvoir ; il a pour lieu d'élection les armatures des capitalismes que sont leurs constructions institutionnelles. C'est un parcours d'une triple diversité que proposent les auteurs. Diversité institutionnelle, puisque conflits et pouvoirs sont aussi bien observables dans le rapport salarial, la monnaie, l'entreprise, que la politique économique. Diversité géographique au travers des cas américain, iranien, argentin et russe. Diversité disciplinaire, convoquant, en plus de l'économie, sociologie, droit, politologie et histoire.
