Abstract

Le pourcentage de la population qui perçoit un minimum social est de 16 % dans les départements Antilles-Guyane contre 5 % en France métropolitaine. Parmi ces personnes, les allocataires du revenu minimum d'insertion et de l'allocation de parent isolé sont particulièrement nombreux. Cette situation s'explique notamment par un chômage endémique, mais également par l'importance des familles monoparentales et les spécificités législatives de ces départements. Dans ce contexte, le RMI contribue à maintenir dans la société des personnes en rupture de droits.
