Abstract

The new project-management procedures now being used in firm deeply modify practices and the balance of power. A case study of an engineering center in a big french chemical plant raises several questions of major importance in the current context. What consequences does systematizing "concurrent engineering" have on the occupations involved in design ? How to reinforce project procedures without hampering the technical professionalism that is a key resource in the race to innovate products ?
