Abstract

On ne peut entrer dans l'oeuvre de Peirce sans un fil conducteur, et la logique est celui qui me convient le mieux. Il n'est certainement par possible de « lire Peirce ». D'abord, la quantité : ses écrits représenteraient approximativement cent quatre volumes de 500 pages chacun... Ensuite, le caractère inachevé, répétitif mais toujours renouvelé, « non clos », quasi-infini, de son oeuvre. Il préférait très souvent écrire un nouveau texte plutôt que reprendre un texte existant. Il n'a jamais publié de livre « de synthèse », ne supportant apparemment pas de voir sa pensée figée dans un état bien déterminé. Un spécialiste français a relevé 76 définitions du signe dans ses écrits.
