Abstract

Denis Bayart et Pierre-Jean Benghozi ont effectué un travail de terrain approfondi sur le secteur de la presse quotidienne régionale. Pour aborder la question de la négociation dans une branche professionnelle de forte tradition syndicale, ils partent des problèmes concrets posés à la base par la modernisation de l'outil de production et la nouvelle donne économique aux entreprises et aux collectifs de travail. Ce faisant, ils se démarquent de l'abondante littérature historique et sociologique produite sur ce secteur. Ce parti pris est particulièren~ent efficace. Sont ainsi étudiées les conséquences du traitement électronique de l'information, de l'apparition de la logique de "produit" et de la décentralisation des rédactions locales sur les carrières individuelles, sur les "fondements identitaires" des groupes dans les entreprises et sur les positions syndicales. En analysant très concrètement la situation en matière de négociation collective, les auteurs constatent une grande diversité des stratégies des entreprises dessinant une "diversité potentielle des choix de modernisation". L'étude débouche sur une analyse plus prospective des lieux et thèmes potentiels de négociation ainsi que des formes que celle-ci peut revêtir.
