Abstract

If the goal of the poles of competitivity is to favour the dynamics of French companies and to accompany innovative projects, what are the strategies of firms in the domain of R&D in an ever-more competitive environment marked by globalisation, by the convergence of information and communications technology and especially by the emergence of a knowledge-based economy? Who are the sought-for partners and what is the goal? Taking as an area of study multimedia industries, indrustries which excel by their innovation, we propose to analyse alliance strategies of R&D firms using a database comprising 233 R&D alliances concerning 188 companies (both French and foreign) during the period from 1995 to 2005. We will call on approaches of collective strategies and business ecosystems in order to interpret the results obtained.
