Abstract

The intensification of cross-border flows in Central Africa for food supply to urban markets strengthen mechanisms of regional integration in the Cemac zone. These mechanisms are little set visibility by the current statistical data. This study proposes focusing on a few key products which structure the regional trade (banana plantain, tomato, beans dry, cassava, etc.) to analyze existing data with a survey to stakeholders of the information system available. The results confirm a current estimate of the registered real flows. It identifies the main factors limiting and provides methodological recommendations to improve the performance of the current system to better reflect the growth of regional food markets.
