Femmes et hommes ont autant de chances d’être aidants de leur conjoint dépendant, mais la nature de leur aide diffère

Abstract

En respectant la volonté des personnes âgées en perte d'autonomie quant à leur lieu de prise en charge, on favorise leur maintien à domicile, mais on fait aussi implicitement reposer une part importante de la charge de l'aide sur leurs proches. Quand une personne âgée perd son autonomie, les personnes qui vivent avec elle, et notamment leur conjoint, sont les premières sollicitées pour leur procurer une aide au quotidien. Grâce à des données détaillées sur les difficultés que rencontrent les personnes âgées dans leur vie quotidienne et les tâches effectuées par leurs aidants à leur domicile, nous nous intéressons à l'influence du genre sur la probabilité d'aider un conjoint dépendant, ainsi qu'au type de tâches effectuées.
