Abstract

Pour comprendre comment se font les atteintes à l'environnement, la notion de risque doit être étudiée sous tous ses aspects historique, cognitif, et bien sûr quant à son appréhension sociétale. Depuis l'alerte lancée par Ulrich Beck, très nombreuses sont les réflexions à ce sujet, et on a souvent noté que le calcul économique était un outil imparfait voire dangereux en particulier par l'écrasement du long terme sous n'importe quelle actualisation exponentielle et donc par survalorisation de l'intérêt présent, une catastrophe lointaine "pesant" autant qu'une petite gêne immédiate. Je tente de pousser plus loin l'analyse ici pour dégager des insuffisances, conceptuellement graves, du processus de quantification lui-même et du raisonnement économique qu'il permet. Ceci conduit à s'interroger vraiment sur cette façon économique de penser costumée dans un habit de rationalité.
