Abstract

his report summarizes the main results of three surveyss on givind and volunteering in 1991, 1993 and 1996, according to a comparable methodology within the framework of Johns Hopkins Nonprofit sector Comparative Programl. these surveys allow for the first time in France to answer the following questions: How many donors and volunteers and which are their sociodemographic characteristics; Which are the nonprofit institutions that benefit of donations and and voluntary work and what is the economic value of these diverse forms of generosity. Finally some elements of international comparison are presented
