Abstract

Destinées à maintenir le niveau de revenu des chômeurs, réduire le chômage et augmenter le taux d'emploi de la population, les politiques de l'emploi sont particulièrement mises à l'épreuve en période de crise. Au cours des cinq dernières années, les pays avancés ont élaboré de nouveaux dispositifs - dont certains sont temporaires -, afin de faire face à la forte progression du chômage. Christine Erhel rappelle la pluralité des objectifs des politiques de l'emploi ainsi que la variété des traditions nationales en la matière, avant de faire le point sur leurs grandes orientations depuis 2008. Si le contexte de crise crée de nouveaux besoins, la mise en place de mesures d'envergure est limitée par l'austérité budgétaire.
