Abstract

Les déséquilibres mondiaux se sont accélérés à partir de 1995 avec l'approfondissement de la mondialisation, surtout financière. Suite à la crise de 1997, la recherche d'indépendance financière par les pays émergents d'Asie a amené à des excédents commerciaux, à un excès d'épargne et à l'accumulation de réserves de changes. Le " saving glut " a, aux États-Unis, facilité l'accroissement des déficits publics et l'endettement des ménages tout en incitant au développement de la titrisation. Les grands déséquilibres mondiaux apparaissent alors comme une cause majeure de la crise des subprimes. Leur résorption ne peut se poursuivre sans un changement de régime de croissance en Chine, un développement des systèmes financiers dans les PED et une marche vers un SMI multipolaire.
