Abstract

The "Women labor supply" has a double objective: on the one hand to propose tracks of theoretical analysis on the work/family articulation; in addition to formulate proposals aiming at reinforcing the equality between men and women. On the methodological plan, the articles joined together here mobilize multi-field approaches to account for the complexity of the situations in France, in the European Union and in the United States. And the study of the women labor supply and of the labour market lies within the scope of the standard and non-standard economic approaches. The question of "domestic work" occupies a particular place: how was the sociological construction of this category carried out? Which place of domestic work within the " gender approaches"? Which consequences of the women labor supply on the division of domestic work? The work/family articulation seems to be the result of a play where the actors and the institutions are essential. Several articles relate on the behavior of the public actors through the government policies and to that of the "intermediate" actors, whose capacity of intervention depends on the level at which they are located (local authorities, trade unions, companies, etc). These actors operate in a specific institutional context and they are historically and locally located.
