An Evening with Patrick Harker

Abstract

During a presentation at New Jersey’s Rowan Institute for Public Policy & Citizenship, Philadelphia Fed President and CEO Patrick Harker said that while inflation remains above target, “real progress is being made,” and “the runway at our destination is in sight” for a soft landing. Harker also underscored the importance of weighing hard and soft data and noted that the Fed’s “work cannot be limited to the financial sector and monetary policy alone.” Since decisions the Fed makes have an impact on communities, he said: “My goal — our goal — must be for the Philadelphia Fed to be seen as an active partner and participant in the economic life and futures of these communities.”
