¿En qué condiciones tiene que apostar España por las inversiones en centros de datos?

Abstract

La expansión de los centros de proceso de datos (CPD) ha convertido a España en uno de los destinos europeos más atractivos para esta inversión, impulsada por sus condiciones energéticas, su terreno disponible, el despliegue de fibra y el amplio desarrollo del sector empresarial de infraestructuras. Este trabajo defiende que la pregunta relevante no es cuántos CPD puede atraer España, sino bajo qué condiciones debe hacerlo. La respuesta no es ni un entusiasmo incondicional ni un rechazo de principio, sino una apuesta condicionada: los CPD pueden aportar infraestructura crítica, actividad industrial, talento técnico y una mejor posición en la economía digital europea, pero solo si la contrapartida que exigen, suelo, energía, agua, fibra y capacidad de red, se traduce en captura efectiva de valor en el territorio. Y esa captura no está garantizada por la mera presencia física de la instalación.
