Evaluacion de un programa de educacion bilingüe en España: El impacto mas alla del aprendizaje del idioma extranjero

Abstract

Evaluamos un programa que introdujo la educación bilingüe en inglés y castellano en educación primaria en algunos colegios públicos de la Comunidad de Madrid en el año 2004. En este programa, los estudiantes no solo estudian inglés como idioma extranjero, sino que el inglés es la lengua en la que se enseñan otras asignaturas (al menos ciencias naturales, historia y geografía). Lengua Castellana y Matemáticas se enseñan solamente en castellano. Una prueba estandarizada de las habilidades consideradas indispensables para todos los alumnos del 6º curso en Madrid es nuestra medida del resultado en educación primaria para evaluar el programa. Nuestros resultados indican que hay un claro efecto negativo en el aprendizaje de la asignatura enseñada en inglés para los niños cuyos padres tienen, como máximo, estudios secundarios obligatorios; y ningún efecto claro en matemáticas y lectura, que se enseñaron en castellano.
