Abstract

Regional development is a concept that aims to boost economic activity and diversification. However, regional development aims to stimulate private sector investment and contribution to reducing unemployment. As regards Romania, growth followed a westeast direction. Proximity to western markets acted as growth factor delivery. This was a national trend, except for the Bucharest-Ilfov, whose situation in the country's economic landscape is completely special. Although statistics show some oscillations in time due to local factors, it can be seen how economic growth has shown some fluctuations. This is due to specific local factors, geographic factors are significant. Underdeveloped areas are concentrated in the northeast, on the border with Moldova and South, along the Danube. Underdevelopment is largely correlated with the prevalence of unemployment and rural activities, and the inability to attract foreign direct investment.
