Globale waardeketens, handelsschokken en jobs. Een toepassing op Brexit

Abstract

In deze studie onderzoeken we het output- en banenverlies in België en andere EU-lidstaten in het geval van een “zachte” en “harde” Brexit. We houden rekening met de netwerkstructuur en berekenen zowel de directe als indirecte handelseffecten van Brexit. We vinden uiteenlopende verliezen over heel Europa. Het VK en Ierland worden het zwaarst getroffen. Bij een harde Brexit gaan meer dan 500 000 Britse jobs verloren. Voor België leidt een harde Brexit tot 42 000 verloren banen, terwijl de impact voor de EU-27 in haar geheel neerkomt op een banenverlies van meer dan 1 200 000 jobs.
