Abstract

SUJALA Karnataka Watershed Development Program Opinion of Stakeholders towards the utility of Training materials Among selected Sujala SubWatershed of Karnataka State. Abstract Sujala, a World Bank assisted watershed project operating in five districts of Karnataka, was introduced with an aim “. To increase the productive potential of the watersheds by involving the communities in the process through building appropriate people's institutions, and capacitating them to plan, implement and manage their own resources to achieve more sustainable development. It is very important to understand the opinion and suggestions of the stakeholders. Stakeholders were selected from five district of Karnataka state, from the selected five districts, atleast two taluk from each of the district was chosen based on the criterion of a taluk having atleast two sub watersheds. Accordingly, Tumkur, kunigal and Tipptur taluk from Tumkur district, Sidalgatta, Goribidnur and chickbalabur taluk from Kolar district, HIRIYUR and HOSADURGA taluk From Chitradurga District, from Dharwad district and from Haveri district were selected. For the study these districts was selected purposively as it represents the project area. At each phase 20 stakeholders from FNGO, LNGO, DRG and Technical Officer. Were selected and interviewed to know the utility of training materials by the stakeholders. The sample size of stakeholders was 460 members. Majority of the stakeholders expressed satisfaction regarding the eleven training materials issues considered for the study point. The results showed that there is a vast scope to expand the training activity for the entire state for different projects in Karnataka which inturn leads to socio-economic development of the state
