¿Vivir transnacional? Prácticas transnacionales de los inmigrantes asentados en Andalucía

Abstract

Partiendo de una definición operativa de transnacionalismo, en este artículo se comprueba, utilizando datos de una encuesta realizada con vocación de representatividad a la población inmigrante asentada en Andalucía, en qué medida se observan prácticas sociales y económicas de índole transfronteriza, incluyendo notablemente el envío de remesas a familiares en el país de origen. Dibujamos el perfil sociodemográfico y socioeconómico de las personas que llevan a cabo estas prácticas y nos centramos en examinar especialmente su sostenibilidad en el tiempo. Nuestros datos invitan a no mistificar el transnacionalismo económico, pues se observa una tendencia al debilitamiento del envío de remesas a medida que va consolidándose el asentamiento en la sociedad de acogida.
