Abstract

This document describes some of the methodologies used in economics to analyze the relationship between use of natural resources, poverty and inequality. Data from a representative sample of rural households from the South-southeast region of Mexico are used to illustrate the methodologies as well as to show how to interpret the results. The objective is to familiarize the reader with these methodologies so she can use them in her own analyses. Whenever possible details about the Stata (version 12) commands that are used to obtain the results are presented.
