Abstract

(This paper is in Turkish) For a city or a region to have a permanent place of a city or a region in today’s global markets is related to the capacity of production of new knowledge (innovative capacity). One of the most important factors which determine the innovative capacity is a region’s creativity which, in turn, transforms the regions resources into valuable products. The region’s level of creativity is also determined by the quality of life. Therefore, there is a strong relationship between the competitiveness and innovative capacity, indirectly quality of life, of a region. From this point of view, in this study the relationship between the competitiveness (as measure of productivity), intellectual property rights (as a measure of capacity of innovation) and quality of life (as a measure of capacity of creativity) is analyzed in NUTS-2 Regions of Turkey for the period 2007-2009. The results of the conducted analyses imply that these three variables are highly and positively correlated.
