Memoria del Seminario UNAM-CEPAL Cambio de Época. América Latina frente a la Hora de la Igualdad: avances, retrocesos y desafíos

Abstract

El presente documento surge de los trabajos del seminario permanente “Cambio de época”, en el que la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL) y el Programa Universitario de Estudios del Desarrollo de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (PUED-UNAM) reflexionan sobre la situación económica y social internacional compleja que vive nuestra región y, en particular, México. El seminario se denomina “Cambio de época” debido a que las convulsiones que el mundo ha vivido desde 2008, al inicio de la Gran Recesión, han evidenciado que el estilo de crecimiento predominante ha mostrado limitaciones intrínsecas y probablemente su agotamiento. En este sentido, se sugiere que se debe tomar un nuevo curso de desarrollo que ponga en el centro el combate a la desigualdad y la cultura del privilegio, en tanto fardos que, más allá de minar el crecimiento, distorsionan la estructura económica y erosionan la cohesión social.
