Abstract

Este documento es el resultado de una investigación bibliográfica y de campo realizada en el estado de Tabasco como parte del Programa Conjunto de Agua y Saneamiento, cuyo objetivo es "Fortalecer la gestión efectiva y democrática del agua y saneamiento en México para apoyar el logro de los Objetivos del Milenio". En el presente trabajo se trata el tema de la gestión sustentable de los servicios de agua potable y saneamiento en comunidades rurales marginadas, a partir del estudio de caso del municipio de Tacotalpa en Tabasco. Con la información obtenida, se buscó analizar la situación presente en el manejo de los servicios de agua y saneamiento en dicha zona. Además, se investigaron algunos proyectos para el manejo sustentable de recursos hídricos en zonas rurales en México y América Latina, con el fin de proponer estrategias para fortalecer la actual gestión de los servicios de agua potable y saneamiento en comunidades rurales marginadas del sur del país.
